“When I grow up…”
The phrase “when I grow up I want to…” is used so often. But is it really thought about? Do people ever really grow up or simply learn right from wrong and support themselves. Still yet there are those who never become independent and well, everyone is different. Differences make the world beautiful. The comparing and contrasting qualities of people color the world with happiness, heartache, love and sorrow. “Growing up” is not an easy thing to do. I know even as a twenty year old woman, I still dress up for Halloween, run through sprinklers, dance in the rain simply because I can, I still want to hold onto those childhood dreams. And who doesn’t crave the innocence of a child. The world is a loving and cruel place all at the same time. But there is nothing like living.
I think it would be so wonderful for adults to never forget their inner child.
Too many people think they must live the life of go to school, grow up, go to college, start a career and a family and then pass on. Life shouldn’t be that way unless that is what brings you the up-most happiness. Life is the pursuit of happiness. Too often people are taken from this world, never seizing their opportunities. So, take this day, tell the people you love how you feel, go skydiving, take a few photos to freeze time, share your smile with a stranger, sing in the shower, and just live. Learn to be happy with yourself, You are you and there is no one who is better at being yourself than you are. An original is worth much more than a copy. And remember, appreciate the old things as you embrace the new.
